Open Door Afternoons

Open Door Afternoons at THT (Waterloo Place, Inverness) are on Tuesdays from 2pm - 4pm for LGBT people to meet up and chat Phone 01463 711 585 for more info.
THT organises various events for men and women at its office in Waterloo Place, Inverness.

The Findhorn Foundation in Moray organises various LGBTQ workshops during the year - visit their web site for details.





LGBT Events in the Scottish Highlands

The Highland LGBT Forum is a group of volunteers drawn from the LGBT community. It is independent from any other organisations and aims to organise a variety of events for the local LGBT community where everyone is welcome.
This page aims to provide an informative list of events within the Highlands which may be of interest to anyone in the LGBT community (events listed here are not organised the Forum unless stated).

Local events:

  • Wednesday 28 July: Caithness LGBT group meeting in Wick (contact Caroline.Snow@tht.org.uk for more details).
  • Thursday 29 July: monthly meeting for the Highland Rainbow Folk 7pm at the Dunbar Centre.
  • Thursday 29 July - Children Of God at 8.45pm at Eden Court - part of the London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival
  • Tuesday 3 August: LGBT Moray group meeting at Elgin library in the Activities Room 7.30-9pm (onto the Cooperage afterwards is optional!). If you're nervous about coming along, someone can meet you in advance - call the group mobile on 07598418638. Feel free to bring along a friend for support if you wish. All welcome.
  • Wednesday 4 August: Gay Men's Group for adults of all ages (socialise, chat, meet like minded people) from 7pm at THT (34 Waterloo Place, Inverness). Contact 01463 711585 for more details. Always on the first Wednesday of the month.
  • Friday 6 August: LGBT youth night at THT, Waterloo Place, Inverness from 6pm-8pm (first Friday of every month) - contact Caroline.Snow@tht.org.uk
  • Saturday 7 August: GirlZone lunch from 1pm at Wetherspoons in Church Street. Joanne will be on holiday, but someone will be there to look out for any newcomers.
  • Tuesday 10 August: The Pink Castle Philosophy Club meets at 7pm at Nico's Bar (Glen Mhor Hotel), Ness Bank, Inverness. Contact Morgan on 01463 751258 / 07745 930383 or email morgan@tramstop.org. The club meets on the second Tuesday of every month.
  • Thursday 12 August: LGBT Moray group meeting in The Cooperage (across from Marks & Spencers in Elgin) from 7.30pm onwards in the recessed reserved seating area at the back of the pub on the left. If you're nervous about coming along, someone can meet you in advance - call the group mobile on 07598418638. Feel free to bring along a friend for support if you wish. All welcome.
  • Friday 20 August: GirlZone lunch from 12.30pm - 2pm in the restaurant upstairs in Debenhams (take the lift to the very top floor in the Eastgate shopping centre, don't go to the cafe on the ground floor!). If you are new, look for the blue box or contact GirlZone if you wish to be met in advance.
  • Wednesday 25 August: LGBT Film night at THT (Waterloo Place, Inverness). Arrive 7pm, film starts at 7.30pm sharp. From August, this will be on the last Wednesday of every month.

  • Thursday 26 August: The Swans of Scotland is an independent group which meets at the Beaufort Hotel in Inverness on the fourth Thursday of the month for transgender / transvestite / transexual people. Visit their web site for more details.
  • Friday 27 August: Karaoke night at The Phoenix (Academy Street, Inverness). Tickets £3 (proceeds to the THT LGBT Youth Group). Contact Caroline.Snow@tht.org.uk or call 01463 711585.
Dates for your diary
Make a note in your diary for Saturday 23 October! The Highland LGBT Forum is organising a Halloween Party at the Raigmore Motel with a whole evening packed with live entertainment. The line-up features DJ Calum, The Shire, and a special guest appearance by Miss Shirley B. Tickets will cost £10 and will go on sale in August.
The Raigmore Motel is offering a special discount on room rates for the night. A single room will cost £35.80 and a twin/double room £56.20. Call them on 01463 221546 to book your room.
The Forum is also looking at holding a Christmas lunch in an Inverness pub about a week before Christmas - we'll keep you posted!
